4 Performances with / avec TC1.4

4.1  Handling / Maniabilité

• The SEL14TC (680 euros) has a weight of 167gr and add 17mm height on top of The Sony 600mm F4GM
• Considering the focal length you need to have a least 1/1000 sec and monopod / tripod is required
• Le SEL14TC (680 euros) pèse 167gr et rajoute 17mm d’épaisseur au Sony 600mm F4 GM
• Vu la focale , il faudra être au min à 1/1000 sec et le monopole ou un trépied sera nécessaire

4.2 Sharpness / Piqué

The tests were made on a Sony A7RIV, the most demanding sensor with 61 Mpix

The lens produce outstanding sharpness at F8 & F11 and excellent at F5.6 and F16, so it can be used at any aperture without compromising quality

The major issue being the ISO going starting to reach the 3200 – 6400 ISO on cloudy day combined with a min speed of 1/1000 sec with the A7RIV 

Best used with sunny weather

Les tests on été effectués sur un A7RIV le plus exigeant de la gamme Sony avec ses 61Mpix

Les performances sont exceptionnelles à F8-F11 et excellentes à F5.6 – F16

Le problème principal sont les ISO qui atteignent vite les 3200-6400 ISO par temps nuageux, combiné avec une vitesse min de 1/1000 pour bien exploiter le A7RIV avec cette focale

Donc à utiliser de préférence par temps ensoleilllé

Corners / Coins

3.3 Lens fall off / distorsion – Vignettage et distorsion

• both are very small et corrected by Lightroom
• La distorsion et le vignettage sont très faibles et corrigés par Lightroom

3.4 Bokeh and Color rendition / Bokeh et rendu des couleurs

• Color rendering is still very good,
• Depth of field at close distance is really tiny  allowing to blur most of the area outside the subject
• The background blur is a little bit less soft with the TC
• Le rendu des couleurs est toujours très bon
• La profondeur de champ est très faible à courte distance permettant de flouter la majorité du champ en dehors sujet
• Le Flou d’arrière est un peu moins doux avec le TC

3.5 AF performance at 840mm F5.6

• The AF performance stay very good with the TC1.4, I did not notice any performances drop with or without the TC.
• A speed of min 1/1000 sec is recommended 
• Les performances de l’AF ne sont pas dégradées par le TC1.4 et reste très bonnes
• Une vitesse minimum de 1/1000 sec sera nécessaire

 

3.6 Samples of photos / Exemples de photos

• Quality is still very high but often degraded by the ISO
• La qualité reste très bonne mais est souvent dégradée par la montée en ISO
