1 Presentation
1.1 Introduction
The Smokegenie 2023 is the v2 of the revolutionary handheld smoke machine launched in 2019
What is it : A Standard smoke machine if quite big and heavy, work with a powero cord and generate plenty of fog you can’t really precisely control. The Smokegenie is a handheld device with a lot of accessories that allow to precisely control the quantity , direction , type of smoke generated
It will be specially helpful for special effect in video and photo to give an atmosphere or to mimic heat for food photography
It exists in 3 version
- Starter kit : 499$ – Fog generator, remote+ cloud formula
- Professional : 690$ / 750 Euros : same + plenty of accessories : Liquid smoke, nozzle, Haze
- Event 2250 $ : equiped with 3 smokegenie, a support to put them together and some additional accessories
The bottle of fog refill is at 45 euros for 4 hours of continuous smoke at min level
Le Smokegenie 2023 est la 2eme version du générateur de fumée portable révolutionnaire sorti en 2019
Qu’a t il. de particulier ? Ten machine à fumée standard est en general assez encombrante , alimentée électriquement et génère une fumée uncontrollable. Le Smokegenie se tien en main et permet de controller très précisément la direction , la forme et la quantité de fumée générée
Il sera tout particulièrement utile en vidéo et photo pour faire des effets spéciaux , donner une certaine atmosphère et en photo culinaire
Il existe en 3 versions
- Starter kit : 499$ – Générateur de fumée , télécommande et liquide de fumée
- Professional : 690$ / 750 Euros : idem + plein d’accessoires : buses pour fumée liquide, buse de précision, brouillard
- Event 2250 $ : 3 Smokegenie, avec un support pour les rassembler et quelques accesoires supplémentaires
La bouteille de recharge de 120ml est à 45 euros pour 4 heures d’émission de fumée à la valeur minimum

Globally the build quality is very good and ergonomics are good

The Continuous mode allow to make very long sessions that are only limited by the capacity of the fog chamber
Th pro mode allow finer control and 2 times more output with 10 levels instead of 5. The number of wind level stay the same : 5
The new Haze accessory is much more easy and convenient to fix and allow to choose the direction of the Haze

Globalement la qualité de construction est très bonne et l’ergonomie assez intuitive
Plusieurs améliorations ont été faites par rapport à la V1

- Compartiment de stockage des chambres
- Meilleur stabilité et possibilité d’avoir un flux continu et non plus limité dans le temps jusqu’au niveau 5

- Adapteur de brouillard amélioré et pivotant
- Nouvelle télécommande qui permet de commander simultanément ou séparément plusieurs unités

2 Usage / Utilisation
The below video show the various elements, the setup and usage of the Smokegenie. Each of the step is further detailed in the following chapters

2.1 Setup / Montage
Install the batteries (not included)
Installation des batteries (non fournies)
Fill the Fog chamber with the liquid . Attention the chamber can be hot after long use , hence the top rubber will turn pink in case the bottle is very hot
Remplir la chambre avec le liquide. Attention la chambre peut être très chaude après une utilisation prolonge. La languette de protection era rose si la température est trop élevée pour une manipulation
Screw it on the main unit and add the magnetic heat shield
Vissez la chambre sur l’unité principale et installer la grille de protection contre la chaleur (aimantée)
Press red button 3 times to start it
Adjust power of fog 1-5 and power of wind 1-5 thanks to the arrow key . Use the centre button to switch from fog to wind. If you need more power , long press the start button you will enter in pro mode with up to 10 levels
Mount any of the accessories you want
Il faut appuyez trois fois brièvement sur le bouton rouge pour allumer l’appareil
Ajuster le niveau de fumée et de vent de 1 à 5 grâce au boutons avec les flèches. Utiliser le bouton central pour passer du réglage fumée à vent. Si vous avez besoin de plus de débit , pressez un long moment sur le bouton rouge pour passer en mode pro qui donne 10 niveaux de puissance
Monter l’accessoire de votre choix
2.2 Usage / Utilisation
Press the back button to generate fog or use the remote to do so
Presser le bouton à l’arrière pour commencer à générer de la fumée ou utiliser la télécommande
Liquid Smoke / fumée liquide
Haze / Brouillard
The Haze adaptor is very easy to install and is very sturdy once mounted. It allow to rotate the haze over 90°. But when rotated the weight of the haze adaptator make it fall down. So if rotated use it by hand or fixed on a stand thanks to the 1/4″ hole
The Haze adaptor is powered by a battery and has 3 level of wind power and is quite noisy
L’adaptateur à Brouillard est aisé à installer et tient très bien en place. Il peut être orienté sur 90°. Mais dans ce cas là le poids de l’adaptateur fera tombé l’unité. Il faudra donc soit la tenir en main soit la fixer sur un support grâce à l’adaptateur 1/4″
L’adaptateur à Brouillard est alimenté par une batterie et dispose de 3 niveaux de puissance. Il est assez bruyant

3 Conclusion (English)
The Smokegenie 2023 is very easy to use and open a wide fields of creative effect. Its price is quite high (750 euros) but it is worth it if you want to play with smoke effects

Le Smokegenie 2023 est très aisé à utiliser et permet un large éventail d’effets spéciaux. Son prix est relativement élevé mais il en vaut la peine si vous voulez jouer avec les effets de fumée

Interesting. Basically it’s an vaping device with a fan using a 100%VG liquid. On the bright side the “smoke” is actually vapour, meaning it’s pretty safe as there is no combustion (which “smoke” would imply). It also means that the price is ridiculously high. You get the same thing, minus the fan, for €70 when it sells as an e-cig.
By the way a 1 liter bottle of 100%VG eliquid costs €10… €45 for 120ml is plain theft.
