3 Performances with / avec TC1.4

3.1  Handling / Maniabilité

• The SEL14TC (680 euros) has a weight of 167gr and add 17mm height on top of The Sony 300mm F2.8 GM so 1637g (without lens hood and tripod foot)
• Considering the focal length you need to have a least 1/250s and best at 1/500s
• Le SEL14TC (680 euros) pèse 167gr et rajoute 17mm d’épaisseur au Sony 300mm F2.8 GM, donc 1637g (sans pare soleil et pied)
• Vu la focale , il faudra être au min à 1/250s et mieux à 1/500s

3.2 Sharpness / Piqué

The tests were made on a Sony A7RIV, the most demanding sensor with 61 Mpix

The lens produce excellent sharpness at F4 and outstanding at F5.6

Les tests on été effectués sur un A7RIV le plus exigeant de la gamme Sony avec ses 61Mpix

Les performances sont excellentes à F4 et superbes à F5.6

3.3 Portraits

Excellent in portraits , with soft background blur and very nice bokeh. excellent sharpness but ISO is climbing fast (below 1000-2000 ISO)

Très beaux résultats en portraits ave sun flou d’arrière plan très doux et des beaux ronds de bokeh . Très bon piqué mais les ISO grimpent vite (1000-2000 ISO ci dessous)

3.4 Distant Subjects / Sujets lointains

The performances for a subject at 200m are excellent as of F4

Les performances pour un sujet à 200m sont excellentes dès F4

3.5 Bokeh and Color rendition / Bokeh et rendu des couleurs

• Color rendering is excellent good,
• The background blur is still very soft with the TC1.4 
• Bokeh balls are also excellent
• Le rendu des couleurs est excellent
• Le Flou d’arrière est toujours aussi bon avec le TC1.4
• Les ronds de Bokeh restent excellents

3.6 AF performance at 420mm F4 / Performances AF avec le TC1.4

• The AF performance stay very good with the TC1.4, I did not notice any performances drop with or without the TC.
• A speed of min 1/500 sec is recommended 
• Les performances de l’AF ne sont pas dégradées par le TC1.4 et reste très bonnes
• Une vitesse minimum de 1/500 sec sera recommandé

• Quality is still excellent
• La qualité reste excellente
